Today is the beginning of a Community Outreach opportunity called Pack the Pulpit. This effort is a relaunch of the Backpack Outreach that began over a decade ago to help financially challenged families by providing individual students with a backpack loaded with the required school supplies. Since then, the Mesquite Independent School District (MISD) has realized a massive growth of enrollment thus magnifying the need. In fact, today every elementary school in the MISD is a Title 1 school providing free or reduced cost meals for students. To address this issue, a small group of church members met to discuss redesigning the strategy that would expand the blessing to more students and to make strides with relieving the burden on teachers who take it upon themselves to be responsible for meeting supply shortfalls.

The goal will be to collect twelve basic school supply needs that will be distributed to twelve elementary schools deemed to be the schools most in need. The event will culminate on Sunday, August 13 at our Back to School with Prayer worship assembly. Please refer to the insert from the bulletin for the finer details. Every member is encouraged to participate.

Moses is dead, and 2.5 million people are looking to you to lead them. That’s what Joshua faced as he took the reins of leadership. Like everyone else, he knew the day would come when Moses would be no more. He even knew that the mantle of leadership would fall to him, but even so, how could he possibly be prepared for this? “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid – never will I leave you, never will I forsake you” the Lord said to him. As strong and comforting as those words had to be, there was still a glimmer of human doubt. Joshua would need to lean heavily upon those words to find the faith, strength, courage and leadership he would need to guide these people.

Join us at 10AM Sundays starting June 4th, 2017 for this new sermon series from Joshua.  You can listen to sermons that have already been given on our Sermons page.

Join Devin LaBay and Wendell Stafford as we take a closer look at the Ten Commandments. We will explore each of these timeless commands from God to see how they define us and God. What we will discover is that God’s rules for living do more than restrict us, they give us freedom.

Each study is designed to look at one of God’s commandments and a Bible passage that helps us better understand how to apply that commandment to our daily life.
